Want an AW4?

i have a TC lockup switch and a dial for the shifting on my AW4. but i like that nifty little piece alot better.

Nice concept, but I thought the point of running an auto was so you didnt have to shift :? The only thing I would change on my auto is the ability to go from low to reverse for those near endo situation.

 

I got a ? while we are on the subject of aw4's, has anyone converted a column shifted one to a floor shifter using an aftermarket shifter?

what, you can't chew gum and walk at the same time? :wink: :P

 

I always get annoyed by how auto trannies shift, never at the right time or hunting between gears. However they are great for rock-crawling, so I made the best of both worlds.

No I am not a very good multi tasker so chewing gum and walking at the same time is not an option :wink:

 

NO if you can find a way to do that joystick thing with reverse and the 1-2 shift I would definately be intersted in that :D Most of the time my wheel speed rarely gets fast enough for it to make that shift, and when it does, it is cause I am flogging it, and need the wheel speed.

I am thinking about the swap for a few reasons

1. ax15's are difficult to find

2. bad knees and clutches don't play well together

3. the AW4 is probably the most bullet proof auto trans I have ever seen.

I have seen them beat to snot , overheated and spanked for days on end and never complain.

 

Brett if you could make a shifter or device that would allow full auto for a swap in setup you would probably make a ton of $

especialy if you don't have to rewire the whole jeep to do so.

 

I know several people that would love to run the AW4 in YJ's & TJ's

and just think of rebuilding an old CJ with a newer 4.0 and AW4 :shock: :D :D

i just bought davidt's (from naxja) manche. i don't really like the dial setup that's in the truck right now. i was thinking of the joystick, but where do i mount it??? where do ya have yours???
