Parking brake cables

Recommended Posts

I ordered parking brake cables from JCWhitney

and I was installing them on my truck but they seem to long. I tightened the metal piece that's under the bed and it doesn't seem to take up enough slack. Would it have something to do with the 8.25 that I swapped in?

The change of axle would have minimal, if any effect on the parking brake cables.  The "metal piece" (better known as the 'equalizer') should be able to compensate for any minor variantions between a D35 and an 8.25.

I have always been somewhat suspicious of J.C.Whitney.  I am not saying they are a totally worthless vendor, but I trust other outfits like Rock Auto more fully.

Just crossed checked with rock auto and the cables are too long, the ones I have are 54" and the ones on rock auto are listed at 51.75". Glad you brought this up and glad I checked. Returning the longer ones and going to order the ones from rock auto.
