holeski
So I have all this extra stuff lying around and want to throw it together for my MJ. This is a budget build mind you. $700 for the truck $100 in tune up parts and what I have here. ACOS 6 cyl XJ coils Leaf spring perches Drop pitman arm New 31 Mud Rovers Dana 35 Detroit locker TJ two piece Dana 30 shafts that use the 44 u-joints I want to get rid of the LSPV in the rear and isolate the front and rear brakes. SOA the rear and install the 6 cyl XJ coils with the ACOS up front. I can fab the control arms if need be but would like to wait to fab a long arms and I’m short on time right now. Does any one know the spring rates for the 4 and 6 cyl coils and are they the same between the XJ and MJ? If the drive line is to short I’ll pull my NP 231 w/ SYE of my YJ since the tranny is shot and waiting for a NV 4500. As for only having it for one day what is there that might be different then the XJ that I need to look out for?
pingpong
To clear the 31's you don't need to do anyhting except listen to the rubbing on the LCA's. 4cyl and 6cyl coils are about the same coil rate, might only give you a 1/2" if anything. I didnt know the TJ came with 2 piece shafts  :? If you install the leaf spring perches that will give you roughly 5 to 6" of lift. The acos will not make up that much as far as I know. Personally I wouldn't install a detriot in a d35 unless I had upgraded shafts and a axle truss, but on 31's it might live. Patrick
holeski
The ACOS will only give me a max of 4”, So that’s where I’ll need to spend some money if the XJ springs don’t give me enough lift. TJ’s don’t have the VD Dana 30. Instead of the 3 peace shafts there is only two. They also use large U-joints. I don’t care if I explode the rear 35. I have extras, plus AMC 20’s and a few Dana 44s and a 5 on 4.5 Ford nine inch that will be the first pick for the MJ. I just want to use some spare parts. Although I think the locker is for higher gears and the 4.10 won’t fit on it. I’m doing and axle swap on my wife’s XJ. We’re going to FSJ 44’s font and rear, when I do that I’ll put her 30 & 35 4.56 gears in the MJ. Thanks for the input.
