Not hard to do at all. Get the Onterio title changed to your name. Take the title and bill of sale with you. Stop at customs, pay duty, custos will give you a form saying you imported the car.  Take that form and Onterio title to your DMV and complete registration.

 

Did this with 86 Comanche diesel and registered it in California.
