Somis
Hey guys, I have owned a 97 TJ 2.5 when I was 15. At 20 I bought a JK from my grandfather, recently sold to buy myself a new Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. I also picked myself up a Comanche! I've always been in love with the truck and they have always been so rare. When I got the opportunity I pounced. Anyways it's a 91 4.0 4x4 manual with 140,000. The guy I bought it from put a little lift on it and chopped the front fenders, has some Kenda MTs and that's about it. I'm looking at correcting the front end with some adjustable links, but almost considering swapping axles. I believe I have a 30/35 c clip combo, just like my TJ. Not sure whether I'm going 33s or 35s yet, but I'd like the assurance of not having to think about it in the future. Has anyone taken JK rubicon axles and slapped the under and used the 4 link mounts to fab up the rear? I would hate to build up the suspension just to end up hating the front axle and starting all over again. Also, the pressurized 4x4 engagement is totally new to me. The previous owner bypassed it and put a cable push/pull system in that doesn't even work, total junk. Any suggestions? Any other newbie info is appreciated. Looking forward to putting some time and effort into this thing and smashing the hell out of some trail again! It's been months!
Pete M
haven't done it yet, but I've got plans for JK axles under an MJ. TNT makes a wonderful truss for the front that allows you to make use of the stock MJ/XJ suspension geometry and eliminates the key weakness of the JK axles (the thin tubes). for the rear I was just planning on leafs so no help there. the front axle doesn't need to be shifted at all. there should be a couple writeups for how to bypass the mechanism in the link in my sig (top thread in the DIY forum if you can't see my sig). also, welcome! :waving:
