I have 86 witch I swapped everything over from a 98 Cherokee. I read the fuel pump would swap to 4.0. Would an earlier year fuel pump of 4.0 work , pressure I mean the. Just re wire the plug. Thanks

The 96 and above injectors require approximately 10 psi more fuel pressure to operate correctly than the 95 and below injectors (~40 w. vacuum -50 psi w/o vacuum vs. 30-40 psi). The 95 and earlier in-tank fuel pumps are perfectly capable of providing this additional fuel pressure, but a 96 or above fuel pressure regulator or an adjustable regulator must be used with it.

I use the Mopar 53030778 gray top 49psi injectors with a 91 pump in my stroker with a Hesco adjustable FP regulator. Works great.
