VerticalScope Hacked

I figured I might as well start a thread here too...

VerticalScope, which owns about 90% of the 'big' forums out there, was hacked sometime early this year.  They were using a very poor method of encrypting user data and passwords, which meant that the hackers have been able to decrypt passwords.

If you have an account on any VS forum, your password is not likely safe.  Not a big deal if somebody logs in as you on a forum...  But, if you use that password for anything else, it might be, since they have the email associated with it.

Forums that you might be part of that are VS: Pirate4x4, JKowners, Yellowbullet, Layitlow, Cumminsforum, Jeepforum, and who knows how many others.

Lists that are probably relevant:

http://www.verticalscope.com/outdoor/site-list-outdoor.html

http://www.verticalscope.com/powersports/site-list.html

I am a member of 13 different ones, most of them I had no idea were VS owned.

VS has offered a few limp-wristed replies to all this, and made some factually incorrect statements about security.

So, if you're using any of those forums, go change your passwords.  But more importantly, if you use that password anywhere else, change it there.  The big problem for me is I use a lot of passwords, and could not remember which ones were used on some of those forums (I do not visit a lot of them often), and thus I am unsure if there is overlap in password usage with other accounts.
