Not sure if this has been answered on here or not, but can an aftermarket fuel sender Work with the stock or spectra fuel tanks?

Assuming we are working with a Renix system::

If you get the fuel tank WITHOUT the baffle inside of it, then yes a cherokee sender of the same year will work. They are mirror image to the stock comanche sender, hence you need to get rid of the baffle. Spectra JP5A I think.

A few people have come up with other solutions, take a few minutes to google them up. Try phrases like "site:comancheclub.com cherokee fuel sending" or some such.

Yeah it's a renix. 88 shortbed 4.0 sorry I keep forgetting to put that in a signature. But my tank leaks past about 1\2 to 3\4 full so I need to replace it and I figure I might as well but a more accurate sending unit and gauge instead of guessing where it's at, and was curious if anyone had used anything other than a cherokee or comanche sender in the aftermarket tank

The tank is leaking, and not the locking ring? Sounds suspect cause you said it leaks when 1/2 to 3/4 full, right about the level of the ring and pump assy....

They are both leaking, whoever had the pump out before me kind of mangled the seat for the locking ring and gasket so I can't get that to seal, but it's also leaking on the seam of the tank about 90ish degrees from the pump
