tarmac2dirt
Hello. I've had my 2wd 88 Comanche for a few years. I have been searching for a 4wd Cherokee for donor parts to convert mine to a 4wd. I have a Cherokee located which I can use the T/C?. This Cherokee is an auto, but will using a ax15 manual.. Will the T/C fit between the two (auto to the ax15) transmissions. If not I continue my search for a donor with a manual trans. Thanks
chris71
as long as the output trans spline and the input tc spline are the same it should work i would think , i'm doing the same conversion and my ax15 is a 23 spline from a 98 cherokee , the np231 i picked up is also a 23 spline input from a
chris71
you have to be careful of what you get , tc have different length input gear shafts long, med (rare) and short , in 1994 they started a change over in the tc to a short by 95 , so keep an eye on what your buying , cause it will be harder to use a newer 231 with an older transmission , i believe there are front input gears for the 231 tc that can replace what it has to work with different transmissions . as i had stated before splines counts should match 21for21 23 for 23 , late for late and early for early , ther is also more in depth reading on it at novak converisons web site here http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np-nvg-input-gears/
