1999MJ
I'm swaping a 95 HO engine into my 88 comanche and for now I am going to stay with the BA-10 trans. My issue is it seems Jeep changed the crank shaft on the later 4.0's and the pilot bearing that fits the input shaft on my trans doesn't fit in the tail of the crank shaft (diameter of the bearing is 2 large) Is there a bearing that I can use or does any one have a part number of a bearing that will resolve this little issue I'm having? Any info would be great. Thanks
Eagle
Call my dealer on Monday. (860) 274-8834 Press '3' for Parts, and ask to speak with Todd. Todd is THE Jeep parts guru. If he can't steer you straight, it probably can't be done.

Rob S
Not sure if this is exaclty the same set up, but I used a 89ax-15 (YJ) and 95HO engine in my 91 comanche. You only need the center bearing, not the spacer they have on the older engines. I believe if you use the later year bearing it should work on the tranny. Hope that makes sense. If all else fails use a brass bushing, thats how the older cars were set up anyhow.
wormycrm99
I made the same swap a few years ago. I took an 88 pilot bearing to a machine shop and had the outside diameter turned down to the size of the 95. It cost $25 but no issues after a few years.
