Alicia
I'm having an issue with my 1986 Manuel. I've got the brake lights, head lights and reverse lights working but for some reason I can't get the running lights to work. I've tried the fuses, changing out the wire harness and even the flasher switch with no luck. Please help... At this point I'll try any ideas you guys have. jimoshel
There are several different methods to be used when electrical trouble shooting. This one is about as basic as you can get. Get a piece of wire long enough to reach from the battery to the fartherest light on the truck. Left rear TL. Attach a clip on one end. This will clip onto the pos bat post. If you have or can get a test prod, use it. If not a straight pin, a safety pin, anything that can puncture the wiring insulation and or the rust, corrosion on the terminals.. Now if you can reach bare metal at the socket touch the wire to it. The bulb should light. If not then follow the wire back to a plug. See if you're getting voltage at the plug. The biggest cause of electrical problems is corrosion. Separate all the connectors and inspect them for corrsion. If your the cautious type you might want to install a 10-15 amp fuse in the lead. Me? I get sparks, I just jerk. Good luck.
