Brickmiata
I have never owned a new (or even close tot new) car but every car I have owned has been like this. I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure first and reverse don't have synchros so its luck of the draw whether or not they are perfectly lined up. Even when it isn't cold outside, I've always found its easier to shift into either of the two if the vehicle has just started to roll or if I blip the throttle while pushing/pulling into gear. When it is really cold outside and the gear oil isn't really doing its job yet, I've always found double clutching into all other gears to be the best way to go. Tactical Bacon
One thing you might try is shifting it through the other gears to see if that helps. I know with mine, it doesn't like to go into Reverse at times, even after driving it a while, so I'll shift it into 3rd before going into reverse. Works every time for me. Also, try bleeding your clutch slave cylinder. It's really quick and if that helps the issue, you could have other problems.
Jaxso32
Well it seems like i was wrong about the fluid. Had no problem shifting until i had driven it about 20 miles and had to stop, had to force it into 1st and almost seemed like it locked out of other gears too. So dragging clutch it is, any suggestions?
Jaxso32
Also i have the mc with the plastic slave line so i can only bleed it so much but i will try and see if it helps
Dillithium
My hard shifting turned out to be a bent/warped diaphragm, it only got worse and worse. I replaced my master and my slave(thankfully external) which did not help. Ended up replacing the entire clutch, my throwout bearing was pretty shot, too.
