yet again, another stalling out thread....

so i recently picked up my newest MJ, an 88 4.0l auto 4x4. when i bought the truck it ran fine but recently while I'm driving it would just sputter and stall out. the first time it stalled i replaced the fuel filter, and it ran fine. the second time it stalled, i took it to a repair shop and they changed the CPS. a few days later it stalled out again. this time i changed the coil and ignition box by myself. went to drive it today and it stalled out AGAIN! the only thing i could think of is the fuel pump going bad. after every time it stalls i get out of the truck and smell gas, but no leaks. what will happen is when i accelerate (either from a complete stop or just driving down the road) it hesitates to respond to the throttle then it will go a few yards and stall out. every once in awhile while in park ill let it idle and itll run alittle rough then clear up and idle fine. so far i have replaced:

 

coil

ignition box

plugs

cap

rotor

plug wires

fuel filter

CPS

 

i have injectors out of a 98 neon that i have yet to put in but i want to make sure i can get this thing running and reliable before i do any upgrades to it.

 

any ideas on what it could be?

This.  Stop throwing parts at it, atleast for now, and check fuel pressure.  There is a small length of fuel line on the pump that often rots out too so it may not be the pump at all.
