new mj project for my son

Just picked up an 89 manche for my son had some rust problems brake lines gas lines etc. when we got it the gas tank had gotten holes due to rust and was already out of the truck got a new tank and straps but I can find the straps that go on the bed just the ones that go around the bottom from what ive found they arent available? should I just go ahead and make some? if so anybody give me a length to start with or know where to buy them? thanks for any help!!

You should be able to pick the J-bolts up at JY. You'll need some deep sockets and a 12" extension to take them off. Hit the J-bolts and nuts with PB Blaster and wait a while. Try to tighten them a little to break them loose and then back the nuts off. If you have room, brush the threads with a wire brush to remove some of the dirt and corrosion and lubricate with PBB. Take some really heavy sheet metals shears and/or a short hacksaw in case they don't want to break loose. Just cut the strap, then take the bolts home for a PB Blaster soaking.

Do you mean the j bolts that attach the straps to the bed? If so, I just bought some SS eye bolts and cut a little of the eye side so it would hook into the mount on the frame.

yep thats what I need to do then thanks!I just wasnt sure what held it up cause it was missing when we got it!

that's a better way to do it. I was too lazy, and liked the idea of stainless.
