dasbulliwagen
The stock rad cap on my 87 2.5 is a 13lb. I see that they make a 14 lb one for "racing" applications as well, which was what was on it before I replaced it with a new one recently. I never realized how relatively low the pressures were on these. Ive never seen one lower than 16lb before now. Do any of you think it would be an issue for me to go to a 16lb cap when I get my new radiator? I know raising the internal pressure also raises the coolant boiling point, and the higher the better would be my thinking, at least to a point. Do the Renix 4.0's have a 16lb stock cap? I'm thinking if a 4.0 can run one a 2.5 should be fine. What are your thoughts?
Roost426
I have been using the one cruiser recommends which is part # BK 7031396 from napa, its pressure is even higher at 22 lbs. I believe it is from a Volvo of some sort.
nitroxsteve
With a 13 psi cap your boiling point is 251F I don't see any advantage to raising it any more.
