87manche
Just bought flat 1/4 x 6 x 36" (brackets) & tubing 1/4 x 2 x 4 x 60" (bumper) for $48. Will do fabricating & welding myself so figure by the time I buy receiver to tack on to it & nuts & bolts I should be able to come in at less than $100 for a solid nice look-un bump. Might have it power coated (think-un). Gonna tuck it under the tail-gate & bed so its not obtrusive & maybe slap some sort of small nerf bars on it to protect the tailgate when I back into cars at the mall. what about making it flush, then using some of those elliptical spring steel bumperettes they used on the wronglers? pingpong
I got a question for those who are interested in buying one of my bumpers  Do you alll want the bumpers to sit even with the outside of the sheetmetal... out side the lower edge, or do you want to have to cut the lower section along the bodyline? I don't want to cut any metal.
Oizarod115
though ill be buying a more local bumper (having a local shop make the bumper i want exactly how i want it cause he's strapped for cash, and i don't want to ship it) but i would want a bumper that's tied into the frame likle crazy, (hella strength) chop the lower edge flush with the bumper on the sides behind the tire, skid-plate type that lower 1/4, with the bumper sticking out maybe 2" in the rear so as to protect the taillights, and 2" receiver welded in the center. just for reference. :brows:
pingpong
This is what I meant by sitting even with the sides of the bed. I made mine with the reciever below the bumper... cause at the time I did use it to tote a small 5x8 trailer behind, and the angles would have been crazy :brows:
