Bumper Modification

Recommended Posts

I know an Xj bumper will fit but has anyone thought about putting a tj bumper front or rear on their mj?

I was just looking at JCR Offroad products and it crossed my mind

in the back of my head I'm thinking I may have to modify it but how much and would the cost of a more modern style bumper off a tj work for our mjs?

. :MJ 2: .

ok That answers my question about that but now i need to figure how the front and rear bolt on

I'm pretty sure that my bolts are rusted and stuck tighter than a golfball up a goats backside

what are my mounting options

Remove the bumper from the bumper brackets first, then spray pb blaster in the rails from the rear. Let soak for as long as possible. Then with a 16" or so ratchet/ breaker bar /extension setup, work each 15mm bolt back and forth very slowly. Always tighten rusty bolts first just a tiny bit. Each bolt could take minutes, even an hour. But taking it off without breaking is always best.
