boardmanMJ
I wanted to do an interior light upgrade to my 2000 XJ classic since a few bulbs burnt out. I did some research and came across a website call superbrightleds.com and I figured I'd try them out. In the XJ (along with the MJ) the interior light bulb calls for the festoon 561LL and the website had them in stick so I ordered them. They came in the mail today and they don't even come close to fitting. Has anyone ever dealt with them before or have any trick to make them work? Just to try them out I wrapped the ends in tin foil to make them work but I really don't want to have to use tin foil for something that is supposed to pop right into place. HOrnbrod
They come in four lengths; 1-1/4", 1-3/8", 1-1/2" and 1-3/4". You have to measure your existing bulb and order the same length.
boardmanMJ
The bulbs themselves are the same length. The regular incandescent bulb has the metal caps on the end where as the LED bulb does not. It will pop into place but there is no way for the electrodes to make contact.
HOrnbrod
Sounds like you got the 4410 series rigid loop festoon lamp. I used the 578 LED bulb - 9 LED festoon lamp.http://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/festoon-series-bulbs/filter/Base,4410,1,5033:
boardmanMJ
Those are exactly what I need. I also have the loop ones you are referring to. I noticed that the light degree angle was only 30 degrees, does that really make much of a difference in brightness?
HOrnbrod
These were very bright in the MJ fixtures, much brighter than the incandecents. But check the length to make sure they are correct for your application.
