Darryl Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I would like to convert a 1988 comanche 2wd into a 4wd with the engine and transfer case from my 1991 comanche. Unfortunately, my brother-in-law, had an accident with my 1991 with only 58,000 Kms on it... She's a goner and can't live with out my comanche! I haven't purchased the '88 yet. Is it better to ger a 1991? Just difficult to find one in the shape I am looking for.... Any ideas/ concerns would be appreciated.
Geonovast Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 A 91 can be used to convert an 88. You won't need to move the engine over, just trans and transfercase.

Geonovast Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I'm not 100%, but I believe it will. If not, the 91 trans should work fine with a Renix TCU. He didn't state if the 88 was an auto or a manual.
