dotis
86 2.5 with TBI, runs good and has great spark when I pour gas in the intake. I have checked the fuel pump it is fine, replaced the fuel filter, I get gas to the injector, the pump runs, the fuel pump relay is ok, I get 3.5Volts to the injector. I guess the next thing is the ECM or the wire from the injector to the ECM? The speed sensor should be ok as the ignition is working to let it run when I por gas in it. correct? JeepcoMJ
if you're getting 3.5 volts to the injector it isn't the wire from the pcm to the injector...that's a given. at this point if you have A) good spark B) power to the fuel pump C) power to the injectors D) fuel to the injectors and E) it runs when you pour gas in, the simple thing I think is that the injectors would have to be dirty or junk alltogether. i believe you can have them flow tested but am uncertain. there are just 2 injectors correct? I'd just replace them were I you. the only other problem i can think of would be that the computer is not increasing the power to the injectors. technically, it doesn't supply power, it grounds them. oh! that could be it! take a test light (or volt meter) and touch the one end to the ground on an injector wire, and the other end to the power for that injector wire, and see if it closes the circuit *i.e. the light lights up or it shows volts (while the key is in the "on/run" position). if it doesn't do that, then the PCM is not grounding the injector and therefor the injector will not work. but at this point it is either the ground problem or the injector is hella dirty
dotis
Thanks! that sounds about right, I've replaced the injector with a new one, so that is not it, and I have plugged a noid light across the injector wires and there is no signal with the key on. so I think the ECM is not sending a ground signal is the right answer. I'll pull the ECM out and ring out the circuits today.
JeepcoMJ
this should be all of the wires running from your ECM i think i posted this already but i forget lol this is the connector view this shows the system and how it's wired...the ECM is on the right in the middle basically this is a continuation of that different view continuation of that different view. look closely at these the info i put here includes the connector numbering/diagram, and if you look at the wiring system diagram it tells you what wires are which colors. hope this helps! JeepcoMJ
oh, and you'll notice that the connector view shows that there are multiple grounds...if one of those isn't grounding correctly then it wouldn't ground the fuel injector along with other sensors (possibly). so check that out while you're at it... JeepcoMJ
did you get it running yet?
dotis
Not yet, had snow and other wife things to do, will get back into it this weekend, I got new relays as they are cheap for the fuel pump and B+ latch, the connectors were really ugly, I think I will find a connection issue eventually, I will have to just ring out all the wires one by one.
