AMCJeepMJ
Having just noticed this, I have no idea how long I have been driving with the column this way: I can shift my tilt column while it is locked in place slightly up and down, as well as left and right. My first thought was that the bolts which hold the column to the dash were loose, but upon further inspection it seems to be pivoting and shifting around where the column tilts. Is it worth the bother and time to repair the column, or is it more worthwhile and cost effective to just find a similar non-broken boneyard column to put in it place? Dadinator
It's not hard to fix. There are bolts inside the column, but require some disassembly. I've done it. Just make sure that you keep track of all the parts. There are a couple of writeups on this on the net. Search for GM Tilt steering column rebuild or assembly. On the fiero forum is where I got the pictures I followed. Good Luck.
87Chief
^Agree.. I had this same problem.. Some say to take the bolts out and put lock tight on them, but I didn't and still haven't had trouble with it been about 5 months.. Good luck!
