87_Pioneers Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 It happend last night we were out being idiots in a field :fs2: and I hit a washboard area and now I have a on and off scraping noise when driving I haven't looked at it to hard but I think I bent the rim unless any body else has some idea of what I did?Any input would be great I'm going to look at it later today and hopefully figure it out.
Harley Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Mud in the rear drum brakes??? Id say if it was a bent rim that bad you would for sure notice more than just a scraping noise while driving.
87_Pioneers Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 Thats what I thought I'm working it out I think its something caught in the brakes ill finish it up tomorrow
xjrev10 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Aluminum wheels? Look for cracks. I have seen a few chevy 3/4 and 1 tons with al wheels that have cracked.
Automan2164 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Depending on disc/drum, you might have just bent the backing plate. I know when I do breaks on my roommate's Chevy 1500, I always manage to eff up the backing plate hammering the rotor off, and spend 3 hours trying to get it bent back perfect and stop the noise. Rob
87_Pioneers Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 I have been there but luckly mine has disks the owner before me (my grandpa) took it to a brake place and they put the wrong hardware kit on it so the slider came off and was rubbing the disks was the problem.
