MancheKid86 Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 How much longer? I need my driveshaft extended but I don't want to until I get my ax-15+ np 231 installed.
Dadinator Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 The tranny is actually longer for a 2wd because it has a output shaft designed to connect to the driveshaft. The 4wd tranny doesn't have that and hooks directly to the transfer case. If you are converting from 2wd to 4wd, you should need a shorter driveshaft, not a longer one. check this thread out for lengths. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20131&hilit=stock+driveshaft+lengths
MancheKid86 Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 I meant with 231 installed :P I picked up a truck with a 5 inch lift, longbox with 2wd slipyolk barely in the output shaft, So if I throw my ax-15 with 231 in, you think I would need to extend it at all? Life for flex wise.

Geonovast Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 When I went from a 2wd AX-4 to a 4wd AX-5/NP 207, I had to shorten my driveshaft by 11 inches.
