flint54
So, right after this hunt season, the T-case and AX-15 come out for swap (231 to 242 and external slave). While I'm there, it make sense to refresh the clutch, even though with only 85k miles it works fine. All I read suggests to replace (not resurface) the flywheel, but I'm wondering who makes the bulletproof disc and pressure plate: Sachs? Rhino? OEM? Centerforce? Hays?, opinions please. Thanks! I've stayed away from centerforce lately, mostly because I want a gradual grab in the clutch...these aren't race cars. just put an OEM in my cherokee, though...and it turned out to be a pile of crap. first time I've seen one of the fingers actually break off the pressure plate. as far as the flywheel...it only needs to be replaced if it has bluish patches, or gouges. then it's seen high heat, or crap getting between the disc and the flywheel. otherwise, scotch brite it and put it back in. you are correct that you shouldn't have them turned down...they are tapered from factory, and when they turn them down they don't take that into account, causing premature clutch failure. wallisek
I've always used RAM clutches in all my Jeeps, OEM line. Never had a single problem and they are decently priced too. http://www.ramclutches.com/
