MjPioneer
Hey guys As of November 8th I'm being my house is being foreclosed on (but that's a whole different story) so I'm on a tight budget and need to get my truck finished asap. My steering is currently is a bit iffy due to very steep angles on the drag link which as you can guess leads to some hardcore bumpsteer. I need a way to lower the angles for under about $100.01 which isn't leaving me many options. The only things I can think of is to go over the knuckle to lower the angle about an inch or two, or to get a drop pitman. Neither one of those are really appealing to me as the track bar will need to be changed up as well. Any ideas guys? Hell if not are there any good ways to stomp out bump steer without changing up my entire steering setup? Along with the steering I need to finish up my brakes. I've recently done the front over new pads/rotors/calipers no problems there the rear on the other hand...I just picked up new drums/shoes/hardware/hard lines/ but I need the soft line, local auto parts store doesn't one. I have heard I can scavenge one out of a 90's Dakota is this true? Well I'm under there I figured it would be a great time to bypass the prop valve how does one do that exactly? I'll be going to the pick and pull this weekend for parts so what do I need to grab for that? Also well I'm at the pick and pull is there anything I can grab for cheapish to upgrade the brakes/steering? I appreciate any help guys.
Bounty Hunter
How much lift do you have in the front? If you have a track bar bracket on the axle end of the front trackbar, I'd recommend removing it. Rough Country has an adjustable trackbar for $99. Motion Offroad
A common thing we do around the shop here is simply move the bracket where the hard/soft line meet. In the photo here you can see where the bracket was and where we simply move them to. You'll gain aprox. 6" of length. Cost - $0.00.
MjPioneer
Thanks for the info so far guys. These are my steering angles, as you can see nothing is parallel and I appear to have bent my tie rod.
Bounty Hunter
I would either remove the drop pitman arm or lower the frame end of the front trackbar to bring the draglink and trackbar within parallel of each other.
