Ok here is my problem I sold My Long Bed all aluminum contractor topper on ebay (had it listed here also). A guy bought it and paid $100.00 asked if it could sit untill he found a shipping company to take it to either WV or VA can`t remember.

I said no problem well its been well over a year and no I can't find any info on him had it on a old computer that crashed. I would not worry about it but he had a A email that was either ________. us mil or army something and his paypal was a APO so I am sure he is military thats why I offered to store it.About 6-7 mounths ago I did email him when I still had it and offered to deliver it for gas and never heard back at all. Its at my dads and I am actually worried someone may steel it for scrap. I am concerend that something happened looking for any suggestions?

If you can't get ahold of him, and he hasn't bothered to at least let you know that he hasn't found something to ship it after a year, I'd say it's yours to do whatever with. Keep it, sell it, whatever. If he eventually finds you, tell him he took way too long, and the $100 he can consider a storage fee for something he no longer has.

That's more of a moral issue than a legal one... legally its done and gone, at the very least you are due storage fees that would most definitely surpass the cost of the item in question.

Morally, its most likely a serviceman and I can see that you want to do the right thing. (WE ALL owe them a debt of gratitude) I would post up on the forum it was sold on, like you have here looking for the guy. If its no problem, through chain around it and lock it in place and hold it for the guy. If it is an issue, let the posts remain visible for as long as possible and move on.

If you want to be above boards and need it gone, put a hundred bucks in an envelope and set t aside and go ahead and resell the topper. IF the guy shows up, hand him the $$. I doubt he would be upset after such a long time...

Thats a good Idea I may be able (if he left feedback) to get his ID but it may still be out of the system there also. Paypal goes back along way maybe there if it is that will have his email in it. Thanks for the suggestions and yes if he wasnt a service man I would have scrapped it myself or resold it by now.

I just tried this with finding my MJ I sold back in '05. Item history is deleted after 90 days, but the history of the feedback doesn't go away. I was able to find the buyer (because he literally said "Now I just have to get the truck" in his rating) and shot him a message. Should be able to ballpark it, and find the account. Won't paypal have a transaction history?
