Druville
The Fuse block in my comanche died from a leaky Cltuch master cyl. the fluid ran down the firewall and pretty much disolved the box and fuses. I'm wondering is there any differance between the boxes in Xjs and Mjs. I'm pretty good with wiring and my dad is an A&P so if i can't get it, ive always got him to help out. Would it be better/ easier to pull the entire harness or just cut the wires and resolider all the connections. There are a ton of Xjs in u pull yards around here but only 1 Mj, and its a 4cly 2wd. Ive spent probably 3 weeks trying to find parts to restore my comanche, i has front end damge, an almost dead ba-10, and the lack of nessisary electrical functions. And once i find an ax-15, ill do a photo docutmentry from ragged to slightly less than toast. :). Thanks in advance.
87manche
the interior wiring harness/fus block is about the same. Might I suggest though that if you're going to be rewiring the fuse block a project that I've got underway. Grab a HO pDC from under the hood of a newer XJ and retrofit that in. Mxi fuses instead of fusible links, and a nice relay holder.
Scott86mj
One thing you will have to change is that an xj brake light is on a different bulb than turn signals. JCWhitney has a part made to convert the xj style lights to the 3 wire style the mj has for trailers but it should work or do what I did and change one of the bulbs to be a brake only by running an additional wire oto the lights from the harness. And depending on the year the stop lamp switch will be different My 86 mj Had a vacuum tube that ran to the switch while the 94 XJ had just a electrical switch. It will not fit right on the brake pedal. I had to rig mine using the xj stop lamp switch holder. Also the heat and ac has some different connectionson newer xj so try and get the same year xj harness if you can it will be easier. Other than that it should be a ok. SomeNew Name
I'm pretty good with wiring and my dad is an A&P LOL that's awesome, that would make 3 AME's or A&P's that are in love with MJs. AME = the Canadian version of an aircraft maintenance engineer.
