smithe1811
What are the symptoms of a bad torque converter on a 97Zj, 4.0 part time 4x4. whats its doing right now is sometimes when i let off of the gas to slow down, it lurches a little and under acceleration first gear is sluggish, almost like there is low tranny fluid which is not the case. underdog
I had the same issues in the beginning of the end of the transmission in my ZJ. After that it would not shift out of 1st gear until it was completely warm. The tranny guy I use says that the pressure switches in them go bad and it keeps the selanoid valves stuck part way open or shut. Something along those lines. I have one in the garage for a 4.0L that came from one I parted out a while ago.
jeepdoggydogB
In my old 97 I had a power/comfort switch, if it lurches in both modes I would think the transmission is in need of servicing. Also if you have the select trac transfer case sometimes getting out of 4WD can be a booger. I used to have to drive backwords for a bit to get it to disengage.
