Geonovast
I had an 89 XJ that had similar problems. Is yours an automatic or manual? My XJ's clutch master had a bad leaking problem and destroyed the fusebox, causing all kinds of cross circuits and weird shorts.
vaquaro
Connector block into H/L switch (look for burn/melting between ports ) then trace back loom ,especially over e-brake to firewall . Same for fuse-block thru firewall connections often short due to water or brake fluid dripping down from above . Good luck :shake:

Dave88
well, I'm breaking stuff on the truck trying to figure out what is wrong with it now. i cleaned all the connection boxes. i thought it was the headlight switch at first but i took it out and my instrument cluster lights are still on and they won't shut off no matter what unless i take out the fuse... any ideas?
