HatchetMJ
Any idea what lenght of driveshaft I'll need when I finish swapping out the drivetrain from a XJ into my MJ. The XJ's are 101" wheelbase I believe and the MJ should be 112 or 113" long. Is there anything I can just pull a driveshaft out off that will make up the difference so I don't have to have one cut down? I've heard of people pulling the front shafts out of a ford F150 and using them in the rears. Can anyone confirm that? Technically I should be able to grab one out of a MJ that is 4x4 to begin with and it will fit. Problem is that they aren't that easy to find around here. pingpong
There are several factors that are going to determine your D/S length. I have a SYE and lots of rear wheel flex, so I had mine built with 3" more slip spline, this also helped when I swapped out my D35 for an 8.8 (is 11/4" longer). So not knowing what t-case arrangement you have, and wether or not you rig is swb or LWB, sounds like yours is SWB though it is hard to say. Best thing to do is to measxure for your D/S fully flexed in both directions, and make a compromise. Patrick
