mvusse
Did you clean the CCV orifice inside the valve cover when you had it off? Or is that Renix specific. Also the back edge of the Renix valve cover is difficult to line up without moving the gasket around, and the bolt back there is difficult to reach. HO may or may not have the same problems. I have never taken the valve cover off my 94 XJ as it doesn't leak anything anywhere.
Wildman
Common oil leaks on the 4.0 (Renix and HO's) are the valve cover, which you changed, but did you spend the little extra for the neoprene gasket??? Rear main seal. Oil filter adapter. Oil pan gasket. Timing chain cover / harmonic balancer seal. Your oil filter O-rings could be shot and the oil is being blown back to the transmission, as an example.
88 Beast
:agree: All of the above. I've dealt with them all. Very common. If it ain't leaking, somethings wrong.
