Frankensteinsmj
I know I've read this here but couldn't find it. I have an 88 comanche with the 4.0L and I'm looking into putting it into a jeep(after the cj) or a cherokee and can't remember what years this 1988 was used. It has the renix comp so that must be the same too. If any can tell me, thanks in advance.

Frankensteinsmj
I was also wondering what year yj (wrangler) too! I read some where that the yj was 4.2L up to 92. did they ever come with a non-ho 4.0 w/renix?

The 258(4.2) lasted until 91 with a carb even. But the YJ and SJ never received the Renix 4.0l, or the AW-4. The YJ did receive the Peugeot for a couple of years. Ironically, this is why the 87 YJ is the least desirable of the YJ's. 258, Peugeot, and a NP 207 t-case. The only year this combo was available. Frankensteinsmj
yeah I was always told not to buy a model that changed on the first year. (87 yj was first year) well you can probably guess that I'm gonna ask this will the 4.0 non-HO long block swap into a 4.2 carbed or a 4.0 HO???? sinnaevd
a 4.0 and an H.O. shoudl swap easily, but you have to change the computer wiht it. As for into a wrangler, I THINK the motor mounts stay in the same place but the trans bolts up differently. I've heard of ppl changing from a 4.2 to a 4, but I've never done it myself
