What year jeeps will my 1988 4.0L comanche plugnplay into?

Recommended Posts

I know I've read this here but couldn't find it. I have an 88 comanche with the 4.0L and I'm looking into putting it into a jeep(after the cj) or a cherokee and can't remember what years this 1988 was used. It has the renix comp so that must be the same too. If any can tell me, thanks in advance.

I was also wondering what year yj (wrangler) too! I read some where that the yj was 4.2L up to 92. did they ever come with a non-ho 4.0 w/renix?

The 258(4.2) lasted until 91 with a carb even. But the YJ and SJ never received the Renix 4.0l, or the AW-4. The YJ did receive the Peugeot for a couple of years. Ironically, this is why the 87 YJ is the least desirable of the YJ's. 258, Peugeot, and a NP 207 t-case. The only year this combo was available.

a 4.0 and an H.O. shoudl swap easily, but you have to change the computer wiht it. As for into a wrangler, I THINK the motor mounts stay in the same place but the trans bolts up differently. I've heard of ppl changing from a 4.2 to a 4, but I've never done it myself
