exjay33
Has anyone ever taken the switching unit off of the tranny and cleaned it ? ( the one that controls the shifting where linkage hooks on) There was an article in one of the jeep mags about this recently , they where saying that there are some small pieces to beware of . Has anyone ever performed this surgery to theirs ? Mine is starting to act up from time to time ( reverse lights sometimes have to shift to neutral to start) any input would be appreciated . Thanks guys

reson46
Yes, I've removed the NSS and cleaned it. The Jeepin instructions are pretty good. When you separate the two halves of the switch there will be two flat pieces of metal with springs behind them. These are the little pieces you need to watch for. I find that there is usually enough dirt and dried grease in there that they don't fly out. It's very easy to do. Willy
