  1. exactly what i needed, thanks!!
  2. I cycled my ignition today to see what codes my comanche is throwing and I was hoping someone that has a manual can tell me what they are. The wiring and engine are from a 92. The codes are 12,35,33,25,11, and 55. Thanks!
  3. Swapping a HO 4.0 into my 89. I swapped the entire harness inside and out, and used the HO flywheel and Crank sensor. We have fuel pressure, but no spark. New crank sensor, and coil, but no injector pulse. Engine wiring harness is good, any ideas?? There is power to the coil, but no spark between coil and distributor, but the coil is good.
  4. yea i thought they were bought since the bar codes were in the middle, and they were on a box. anyway, for that much cash i think i'll just stick to sheet metal. thanks for the info though, your build looks awesome!!
  5. where did you get those floor pans, and how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking. Mine are a touch worse than yours, i was just going to use sheet metal but those would make the project a ton easier.
  6. In my manch there is a horn relay. Its located right next to the headlight relay under the dash.
  7. Pete, Eagle, and Lead- For once,I actually did my research on this forum prior to doing the swap, and thanks to guys like you, I already did the flywheel/CPS swap. Sorry I forgot to include last months tranny swap in the description,It's now an AX-15 (with internal slave), instead of the puke. JOM, That was actually the next thing on the list to try. Just seems like the easy way out, since that doesn't help the fuel pump or starter, and I don't really want to have all the switches/buttons to run everything seperate. Seeing as I'm not gonna be able to wrench much tomorrow, I thought I'd see if I could find the right way to fix it, instead of starting to cobble a bunch of toggles to get this thing to run....(Which is exactly what would happen, I'm stumped.) Thanks for the help, anymore ideas?
  8. I swapped a HO engine out of a 92 comanche into my 89. I moved the entire wiring harness into my truck, inside and out. Got it all set up to start, and have nothing. No spark, fuel pump, or ignition. The motor will turn over if you jump the starter. The fuel pump will kick in in you jump over the relay in the PDC. There is no spark, and I can't get it to spark. Idea's??
  9. I snapped the cam in my renix 4.0 the other day, and shot it out of the block. Just thought I'd share that, becuase I've never heard of it! Anyway, I got my hands on a high output 4.0 with 30,000 miles on it for $50. Its actually a '92 comanche, that had the frame and everything behind the cab chopped off. It ran fine, just slid into a tree and torqued the rear section of the box/frame, so he cut it off to tube it out but never got around to it. My question is, how straight forward is the swap? Mounting should be the same if I am not mistaken, with the exception of moving some resevoirs, but as far as the wiring I have heard different opinions. Does the whole wiring harness need to be switched out, or is there a way to connect part of the new HO to the existing renix?? Sorry about the long post....thanks in advance for any responses.
  10. Wow I never would have thought they made a puller just for that. The grease method accomplished one thing, one helluva mess. haha I would leave it in, but the needle cage was busted so a few needles were all over the place, I found it best to just pull it out and replace it.
  11. How do I get my pilot bearing out? I got the needle bearings and seat they ride in, but how the hell do I get that little race out? It's taking me forever!
  12. wow great story... so i'm on my way to take my rig to the shop. all the sudden I have no resistance to the gas pedal. great. call up my buddy, he towed me to the walmart parking lot down the road. left it there for a few days, kicked it, swore at it, etc. then i had my buddy tow me to the shop a few days later. throttle cable snapped, shifter broke(wouldnt go into any gear), transfer case rusted, fuel pump was my original problem. long story short, $600 later i'm up and running like a champ! now all i need is a muffler.
  13. don't worry about jackin the thread...we could be lookin at the same problem!! The signs aren't there for the gasket....thats what has me stumped :headpop: ...i think i'm gonna take it to the shop.....i guess i gotta sucker up and pay the bill....I'll let ya know what happens.
  14. I've got an 89' Comanche that runs like crap right now.....It will idle ok, with periodic increases or decreases. When I first start it, it will run/drive alright sometimes, but after a while it runs terrible. I can have it in 1st and put the pedal down and it puts at about 2 mph for roughly 15 seconds, then seems to take off.I can rev it up to about 3,000 rpms, dump the clutch and it will accelerate almost like a normal car would....almost....My question is, could this be a faulty head gasket? I was thinking it could hold enough pressure to idle, but put it under a load, and when compression counts it's got nothing. Sound reasonable??, or am I way off?? Any imput would be greatly appreciated....this thing is starting to really piss me off. Also its not the TPS, spark plugs/wires, or fuel pump. Thanks
  15. Hey sorry for the lack of info...it's got the I6 4.0 L Not sure what's it's deal is now, all it does is click when I try to start it. I was checking the air filter today, and the plug came off the top of the valve cover (only "plug" on the valve cover, in front of the oil cap). How does it fit back on, it's full of grime and what not, but I'm not sure how it fits. Now all it does is turn over a little and click when I try to start it.....Thanks for the replies!
  16. I just bought a comanche for $400. It runs crappy, and has rust, but hell $400 for a winter beater I'll take it. Now it doesn't run for a darn, its pops, sputters, backfires, then hits some kinda powerband and roaches the tires out from under me....what could be wrong? I'm thinking something with the fuel delivery???? It's not the TPS, I checked that today.
