you just carefully drill the 5x4.5 bolt pattern in the wj rotor. worked great for me on my zj. i've also heard that 2wd ford sport trac rotors will work as well. i've successfully completed this swap once, my only concern is that the wj knuckles won't swap onto the 2wd front axle. i've googled and searched several forums and haven't found anything. i guess i might be the first one to try this swap on a 2wd mj.

so last year i swapped a set of wj knuckles onto my d30 on my zj for 2 reasons. i drilled them for over the knuckle steering and for the bigger brakes. my brakes pretty much suck on my mj and my local junkyard has about 4 wj's currently, so i was wondering if the wj knuckles will even swap onto my 2wd straight axle?? has anyone done this???

did a little wrenching yesterday. i had picked up a mint condition pair of tail lights a week or 2 ago from a JY. i used a little headlight restore on them and swapped them on there. Image Not Found i also swapped on my new shocks. i've lifted and changed shocks on a few zj's and xj's and the drivers side front shock is always a PITA. you can get a wrench on the top nut but you have no room to turn it. or you can get a socket on it but can't get a ratchet or extension on the socket, such as the 2 pics below i feel like an idiot for not thinking of this solution before. but i thought maybe i would post up and save someone else some time and head scratching. so before going any further just go ahead and pop the vise grips on the top of the shock. then unbolt your bottom bolts and pull the shock over at an angle. i also used a small piece of pipe to wedge in between the shock and the mount to angle it a little more. and shazam! 2 small extensions(couldn't find my large one) and a swivel and it comes out of there like cake. new shocks installed and new bolts -

well tonight i found someone parting a few xj's out on craigslist and went and got two good doors from some 97+ xj's. now can anyone tell me what i need to do to make the power windows work??? :help: any help would be greatly appreciated! -
so i would just have to drill a hole and run a bolt through? just for some further detail, this is what fender/header panel combo i want and for anyone else looking to do this swap, i think this is pretty much a steal http://www.ebay.com/itm/2001-2000-99-98-JEEP-CHEROKEE-GRILLE-CHROM-HEADER-PANEL?item=170567029165&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7936018049006490770#ht_3081wt_1037

ok so i'm sure these questions get asked here over and over but i've read contradicting answers from a few different jeep forums and i need help with the real answers. so my first question, will 97+ header panel/grill/headlights/etc bolt on without the newer fenders? the only difference i can see is that it looks like 97+ fenders are hacked off even with the top of the bumper?? i was interested in some fiberglass pre-runner fenders to go on my mj but the ones i want are only made for 96 and back cherokee's. the thing is that i've seen another mj with these fiberglass fenders and a 97+ header panel. so obviously it can be done, but does it just require some fender trimming or what? my second question, 97+ doors? will they bolt up or not?? \ i've seen multiple answers on this one, some say yes. some say no. some say only the 2 door xj's, some say 4 door xj's. to me it looks like 97+ fronts from a 4 door will work but i could be wrong. someone please help me out here

gotta love those late night craigslist deals. i was killing time and doing my nightly routine of surfing the web, and while scanning the nearby cities on craigslist i run across the stock set of xj wheels i've been looking for along with some nearly brand new 33x12.50x15's on them for $350. i call the guy up and explain that i'm about 125 miles away and the most i can withdrawal from my atm within 24 hours is $300. long story short, i got them and before the 20 other ppl who called the guy while i was on my way. so obviously the 33's aren't going to fit on my mj. i swapped my current tires to the new wheels and now hopefully i'll be able to sell the bf goodrich's for my money back along with my old wheels and maybe make a buck or two for some other parts i find. here's the new wheels after giving them and the rest of the truck a bath just for fun, here's the tires that came on the wheels i bought. well worth $300 IMO -
what is an mj topper worth??
ZJ_flexxxer replied to ZJ_flexxxer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
not sure of brand but looked to be in decent shape when i seen it. i was more worried at the time with snatching what parts i needed. but i do know it's fiberglass material and the bedliner did say "comanche" on the front side under the back window. the more i thought about it the more i kicked myself for not taking a better look at it and just grabbing it before some punk decides to bust a window on it -
3.07 or 4.11 What do I do?
ZJ_flexxxer replied to Bhfear's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
just find an hp30 with 4.10's out of an xj. you just need to find an xj with the 2.5 in it, those came factory with 4.10's. i picked one up from a guy for $200 for my zj build since i'm wanting to run 35's. or the cheaper route would be to just run the 3.07's. i was running 3.07's in my old waggy and it was a just a little sluggish on take off but great highway gear. -
i'm just curious. still not sure if i want a topper but i think it could come in handy at times for camping, etc. even if i decide i don't want it, what is it worth?? i know where a mj topper and bedliner are in a junkyard and i really hate to see it go to waste(a.k.a. crusher) when i know someone on here could more than likely use them. if i can pick them up for a reasonable price i would re-sell for my money back and a little bit of my time.

well i decided to seafoam my 2.5 today and when i hopped in the drivers seat i found that my new headliner was a fail. didn't even make it 24 hours without sagging, so i guess i'll be pulling it back out to re-glue. idk if the glue i used just wasn't good enough or if i didn't use enough :fs1: but the seafoam did seem to help out some, maybe it's just my imagination but she seems to have just a little more pep in her step -

couple quick questions
ZJ_flexxxer replied to ZJ_flexxxer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If it's a 2WD and your daily driver -- don't lift it. Certainly not by anything like 3 inches. Then you'll be looking for bigger tires because it'll look sily with a 3" lift on stock tires. 31" or 33" tires cost a bunch more than 225/75s. You won't like the performance hit with the bigger tires, so then you'll be looking at an axle swap or regearing. And on and on she goes -- "JEEP: Just Empty Every Pocket." Throw a 3/4" spacer on the front springs and the next time you need tires go to 235/75-15s and you'll have a fine daily driver. this is so true but i just can't help myself. anything i've ever owned i've had to customize at least just enough to kinda make it my own. i'm thinking only 3" of lift with new wheels/31's, a pre-runner front bumper, 97+ front clip, and calling it done. as far as i'm concerned 31's are no more expensive that a good set of 235/75/15's. the only thing that bother's me is the potential for DW after lifting it, but then again i've never went with as mild of a lift as 3" or less, so that could help lol. -

well i did some more junkyard scavenging today and i found a good mj headliner, both dome lights, windshield cowl(in great shape), and some other minor stuff i needed. i also got a cigarette lighter out of an xj and wired it up so i could charge my phone. my plans are to re-cover the headliner in some camo material unless i come up with something i like better. my old wagoneer had a camo headliner and it was pretty neat, i always got alot of compliments on it too. i'll try to post some pics up once i get a little more progress made. -
couple quick questions
ZJ_flexxxer replied to ZJ_flexxxer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well it'll probably be a while before i lift it, so i should be fine with the stock trac bar up until the day i decide to take a risk on death wobble. with this being my DD i'm so leery about lifting it because everytime i've messed with the ride height on a jeep i've had problems with DW. -
just bought my mj about 2 weeks ago. so far i'm loving it. i've been curious to know if stock zj springs in an mj will give me an inch or two of lift in the front. my mj is still 2wd so i know lifting it is pretty pointless except for looks but i'm wanting to go with a pre-runner look for it. i'm thinking using zj springs and 2" cup spacers in the front should give me at least 3" of lift. or if anyone has better ideas i'm completely open to suggestions, i have access to xj's, zj's, and a few wj's in my local JY. also, will a stock xj trac bar work on my 2wd mj? i've got quite a bit of play there and a buddy has a stock xj trac bar just laying in his garage.

thanks guys. i had no intentions of spending much money that day at the junkyard. i went there looking for a p/s pump and mirrors and wound up stumbling onto that stuff and there was no way i was leaving without it in my wheel barrel. i have plans to go back and get a rear sliding window out of one of them and maybe some other stuff. i'm thinking about making a list :wrench: i messed with her a little today. just did minor stuff that's been bugging me. plugged a fuse in and got my turn signals working, re-wired the radio(with an antenna this time) and made it fit in the dash correctly, vacuumed the carpet really good and dyed some stain spots, and i swapped steering wheels(i couldn't stand that little thin wheel) before after -

So i've always wanted a little comanche for years now. i found this 2wd 2.5 4spd on my local craigslist for $1300, i did a little wheeling and dealing and got him down to $1000 and took it home. First things i did were fix the brake lights and running lights and get it safe to drive. so to start things off i headed to the good ol JY and to my surprise actually found 3 comanches. i found a bench seat in good shape so i snatched it since mine was shredded all to pieces and i was almost sitting in the floor when driving it. installed then grabbed a back bumper to replace my bent and abused excuse for a rear bumper before new bumper wire wheeled, 1 coat of truck bed liner, 1 coat of gloss black installed also grabbed a woodgrain dash panel out of an xj. as soon as i seen it i just had to have it and one of my favorite chores on the list was getting some new exhaust pipe welded in. believe me when i say this thing was LOUD the night i brought it home. now she purrs like a kitten, all except for my squealing belt. the pulley on my p/s pump is nicked up for some reason and causing the belt to squeal. new exhaust
