  1. Looking good buddy. I can't believe how much better at this you've gotten from the original Blasphemy chop. Awesome!
  2. Thanks guys I will look into those areas. I'm slightly preoccupied with the aftermath of this, but I will get back to the MJ soon. Sorry for the crappy cell pic.
  3. Nope its beating me down. I've tried everything a could find on the google for testing and all is looking right. except maybe for the cps I just replaced. Maybe bad out of the box. Only getting 340mv AC on it. I read you need 500mv to start.
  4. Thanks for the fuel line help guys. This is a 1990 4.0 5 speed mj. The PO has put a fair chunk of new parts into it with no luck. New plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, air filter etc. You know the usual shotgun method of problem solving. I received this truck as a non runner so I went in not really knowing what could be wrong. Reading and talking to some friends lead me to the CPS. By the looks of it its not a bad idea anyways so I changed it. Still nothing. More reading and poking around and I thought maybe the ignition switch. Pulled it apart and sure enough its very worn inside. So new one of those. This may have actually made an improvement. I can get it to run while in the crank position but not when releasing the key to run. Are there some fusible links some where I'm missing. I've metered the fuel pump at the ballast resister and I have power for a second when I turn the ign on and during crank. This sort of makes sense, but why once its firing does the power go away. This isn't the complete issue as if I bypass this with a jumper lead the problem persists. What I'm wondering is what other circuits are not turning on in the run position? Thanks in advance. Eric
  5. Ok so the previous owner of my MJ was a determined yet misguided fellow. He broke a clip for the fuel line. Now he is probably like me and has no idea what this clip is and can not find a new one at a local parts store. Words like thing and clip don't seem to work. So I'm hoping a picture will. A little determination from the PO The problem area is the fuel line to the fuel rail.
  6. Plans for it are to build it into a winter toy mostly. Around here in Yellowknife there are a lot of great places that one can only get to in the winter. Either by snowmobile or ice road. But I want to get there by truck. A friend and I are planning on building a new cabin/tent this spring so it will be a great help moving material. The parts list includes axles from an early bronco. Tires are 35" pit bull rockers which work surprisingly we in the snow. I want to keep it as low as possible and add a roll cage into the mix. Oh and shorten the box down a bit. I'm still reading lots about the possibilities with these trucks. I've never seen so many bolt on parts, its mental meltdown for me. I've never been one to buy not build, but that's been necessity not so much choice. I've run into my first problem with the MJ. It has a leaking fitting for the fuel line to fuel rail connection. Some plastic clip is broken. I have tried the local part stores today but no luck. Any one have a P/N for what I need or a name for it? Monty pics, no problem. The first time I cut it up. And most of the parts needed to put it back together again after I cut it up the second time.
  7. Ok this is my first post with my first jeep. I will always claim that this is not my fault. To explain this to those reading I will go back a bit. I am and have always been a die hard import guy. So in the past I have built a Sami aka Slutty Suzi. Then later on I found this gem. Monty. Now the Montero is slightly modified due to Beer and Cutting tools. This is where the story starts to make sense. This was all done with the help of fellow member here Jenssen. I've read his thread about his body work and I can say that he does have a knack for it. So his MJ projects have led me to watch out for one for myself. I've always liked them, but seeing Jenssens builds and the parts availability put me on the hunt. So I bring to you Thrill. Just picked her up yesterday. Had no info on the truck before hand. Well I knew it was an MJ, non running 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4 and FREE! So we dragged her home. She's a 1990 and the body is mint. I called Jenssen and asked what he thought the problem could be. He figured CPS, and to tap it lightly and try firing here up. Well it runs! Badly. But at least I know where the problem starts. Once I get her running properly I will update everyone with the future outcome of this poor girl. I look forward to learning a new brand. Thanks in advance for all my future questions. Eric
