  1. Hey all - I'm just getting into my build and found a donor MJ that will practically get me all set up. I am concerned about a few things that I was hoping somebody can help me out on. This is my first build so I'm learning as I go. My MJ is a 1990 eliminator, stock. All I've done so far is put in new floors. 4.0 AX15 NP231 The Donor is a 87 MJ Chief (apparently wheeled only once before a tree fell on the cab in a storm) 4.0 AW4 NP231 Here is what the donor brings to the table: Dana 30 Front: 4.56 gears, lock rite locker, control arm skids, Johnny joints, TJ axle shafts Dana 44 Rear: 4.56 gears, OX Locker complete with cable and shifter (never been fully set up and adjusted), set up for SOA. Suspension: 6 inch bastard lift, 4 inch coils & 2 inch spacers from RE, Adjustable track bar, adjustable upper and lower control arms with Johnny joints (custom made from ¼ steel) NP231 Transfer Case with SYE: possibly teraflex or JB, he couldn’t remember. Not a hack-and-tap. extended brake lines, bumpstops, ect ect. I have two questions: 1. I think the 87 t-case is a 21 spline input, my 90 is obviously a 23spline with the ax15. So I know they are not compatible. BUT, can I just swap the SYE from the donor into my 231? it is just the output shaft right, only the input needs to match up with the tranny..? Is there another relationship beyond the tranny and t-case spline count that I need to be aware of before swapping over these parts? 2.you guys think this donor would be a good deal at 2k if everything was in decent shape? Any tips on what pitfalls a newbie might miss? I'm on the fence. Thanks guys, I appreacite any help or input!
  2. Haha right, sorry bout the dust comment. But hey, it got you to post again! Again, really awesome!
  3. WOW! I saw this rig in person this week, Paul was nice enough to pass along some left over headliners. I had no idea this thing was so amazing. I mean, it looked pretty bad a$$ sitting in the garage, but all that dust all over it just didn't do it justice! I hope you get back to it soon! I am super impressed! I picked up my first MJ a few months ago and am just starting the build. It was always going to be a mild build, but after seeing yours in person and reading your thread for an hour, my wife is very concerned that I am 'reconsidering' the depth of my project. ha. let me know if you ever need extra hands, I'm right down the road. Really awesome MJ.
