Finally got my MJ back from the painter after 1.5 months. Shoot I was going through withdrawls :cry: I got it painted and some 235-75-15 BFG all terrains with American Outlaw II's put on. My death wobble was fixed with the new tires, rims, and ball joints. Overall I'm happy with the results. Just minor details for me to work on. Still gonna powdercoat the bumpers and finish cleaning up the trim. For now I'm happy to be back on the road as I was riding my motorcycle everyday.

by turtle and cap I assume you mean coolant resevoir? sorry if I'm wrong just never heard of turtle. I know my problem was just the resevoir and cap, which was pretty inexpensive.

I heard that. At least there is no rust to be found on my truck! :D

Finished replaciong the ball joints at 11:30 last night. What a f-in b*@$£ :rant: So I got those done, but when putting it all back together I ran into to a problem. The outer tie-rod end had a stripped bolt so I couldnt get that back on. Now it's time to replace that. Luckily I have a cherokee in the backyard for spare parts.

has anyone here did the r-12 to r-134a conversion? I'm thinking of buying the kit and doing it myself. I have access to a vacuum pump and the gauges. They have the kits at the store that come with the stuff needed for 35 bucks.

I'm going to attempt it today, got a manual printout. $50 for all 4 joints is a lot cheaper than the $625 the shop quoted me, lol crackheads.

How hard is it to replace the ball joints? I can rent the tools at autozone, and just wondering how to go about replacing them?

Oops you are right, It is the 3" lift kit (edited my original post). I guess I should try emailing them tommorow to see what they say. Hopefully the ride is not to bad with the lift.

I did a search but couldn't find a definitive answer. I have a 1989 comanche with the 2wd 6 cylinder engine and auto trans. I don't know what axles I have and the truck is currently in the shop getting painted. I want to get the 3" rough country lift kit with 31" goodrich AT's on the stock rims. I won't be doing any offroading anytime soon, just daily driver and some dirtbike hauling. Will this lift work for me or do I need to check what axle I have to determine that answer? I know I could wait and check on my axles but I'm ready to order the kit as I have ADD :eek:

Yeah it's the unibody, only way you can tell it was wrecked is if you look under the fenders and see the 1/4-20 bolts that I used to put the inner panel on. I was suprised how easy and perfectly everything fit from the XJ. Just glad my new radiator came away unscathed. I had to fix it though, love my truck to much to junk it, which is what everyone thought I was gonna do :eek:

Wrecked my baby last month and wanted to share my pics with you. Didn't have my dig. camera so had to use my cell phone. Front end damage In the middle of the tear down, the worst of the damage was to the drivers side fender wheel well which was spot welded on. I drilled the welds out and removed the panel. Bolted a new panel on as it was a hell of a lot faster than if I were to spot weld it on. Plus its removable now, just in case, lol. Finished thanks to a $200 donor xj I picked up off of craigslist, two miles from my house. Now my baby is in the shop getting painted, Dark silver metallic pearl. Currently looking for black rims and tires and a small lift to complete the exterior. This thing is a beast it took a hell of a hit and stood up really well.

thanks guys, I was hoping to hear good news, but I don't like the look of rims that stick too far out. I'll have to keep looking for some tough black rims for my mj. It's in the shop right now getting painted. feerocknok - its a 2WD.

Been lurking here for a while an=d now I have a question, great forum by the way! I want to put the Moto Metal 951B rims on my '89 comanche pioneer. According to my supplier the specs are as folows: 16x9 4.5" backspace -12mm offset 83.8cm center hole They said I would need to lift the truck to make them work. I know jack diddley about rims and tire sizes. Can anyone chime in on if I can make these work? What size tires should I run with these if they will work? I won't be offroading just a daily driver for now. Also with the 12mm offset how far would they stick out, would it look retarded? Rich
