  1. Cool... where (online) can I buy the center pins. I was going to use a bolt and then round the head so it fits in the perch, but I know that's not the correct way. I'm going to throw the front axle from the cherokee on... does this require modification? Also going to throw my stock rear on until I can get the new axle welded up. Another question... how much does it cost to have a driveshaft built (I can't find anyone selling one)
  2. what I have done so far is: remove both front and rear axles removed leafs from stock axle. reversed leaf retaining bolt (aligns leafs into perch as well) looks like I am going to have to upgrade to a better welder, I have too many welding projects. how should I measure the distance for the perches?
  3. what axle kit did you buy? is the chrysler a 4" tube or 3" (I'm not at home, can't measure.)
  4. they aren't? uh oh. this just got more complicated. I'm going to kick my brothers behind for telling me the cherokee axle is a direct bolt in
  5. I'm in the middle of a SOA conversion and I ran into a issue. I am replacing the axle (d35 with Chrysler 8.25) and I realized the u bolts for the springs are too small for the 8.25. this would mean the shock mounts are also wrong. my questions are: the shock mounts on the axle itself (axle came from a 2000 cherokee) are one front one rear. I cannot remember if the shock mounts are like this on the stock comanche (arent they all supposed to be?) Assuming my brother can dig up the u-bolts and backplate (correct term?) from the cherokee, can I use the shock mounts on the chrysler axle? (comanche had them on the back plate of the u-bolt shackle)
  6. i read that i could get rid of it, but mine only has surface rust, but either way (putting it in or not) i need to remove it without damaging the actual frame.
  7. I'm talking about the top of the frame rail. it sits above the floor over the frame rail. its welded to the floor pan
  8. I'll add some soon, and keep everyone updated on the progress. Right now I'm planning on using a air chisel to break the welds. I used a hammer and screw driver to break the welds along the rocker for the whole floor panel. If this should be moved to a different forum let me know
  9. Got my first MJ. My little brother has been into XJ's for a while so I have learned alot from him, and decided to build a jeep because of that. Had some wiring issues, in which the fuse box was the culprit. The radio was ripped out along with the speakers, the interior lights behind the seats don't work. The turn signal was broken, so I replaced it with a used one that came with the truck (which had a different problem). And probably last the door hinge was "fixed" at one point, but it was not done right so the door is not aligned right. The a/c lines have been cut, the truck is a 2wd longbed with the peugeot tranny. My brother and I are planning on doing the 4wd conversion this summer once I restore the truck somewhat. I have half my drivers floor cut out (in the process of replacing it). Whats the best way to remove the top part of the frame rails? I'm using replacement floor panels. The rust goes almost to the fuse box so they won't cover it all the way.
