Had the same issue on my 87 Cherokee. I realize this is an old thread, but will comment here for future readers. If you don't want to buy the Jeep Air kit, you can have the hose made by Cold Hose (parent company also owns Jeep Air), and have it shipped to you. The hose cost me $55 + shipping. Here are the options you need when using their custom hose builder page on the website: Build A Custom AC Hose 25 - 72 / NO / NO Hose Type: BH6 - # 6 (5/16") Standard Barrier A/C Hose Exact Hose Length: 33 Left Hose End: BL1821 - # 6 90 Degree O-ring Fitting Inline Splicer: no Splicer Length: 3 Mount Angle: Select Option Right Hose End: SB1421 - # 6 90 Degree O-ring Fitting Mount Angle Offset: 6 This is almost plug and play. It is the correct fitting on the expansion valve side, but on the drier side, you need to take the check valve apart and use the fittings that make up the valve to connect the hose to the drier. This is due to the fact the smallest size fitting cold hose sells is #6, but I believe the drier is a #5 or #4. The check valve is brass and composed of two sections. You need to remove the check valve internals and disassemble the valve, then you can flip one of the sections and use as a connector between the hose and drier. You do not need the check valve, my A/C works great without it. Nitrogen pressure test then vacuum down to 500 microns has shown this is effective.
