First of all I'm new to the forum but not to the Comanche's, mine is a 1991 metric ton originally ordered by a local town as a public works truck and served in that capacity until I picked it up in December 2019. Since then I've been on the interesting journey of keeping this very unique vehicle on the road. I never realized how rare these things were until I got it and wish I had taken one for a spin back when they were still in production. I would have bought one brand new had i know how much fun they are, I've had a Chevy S10 and a Ford Ranger and the Comanche by far has them beat for payload, and handling.
This brings me to my question, my rear shocks have gone out and I've spent the past couple days online trying to find the proper shocks to put on it.
None of the parts distributors show anything different for the ton truck for that matter none of them show that model period.
Surely with the higher gvw they put heavier rated shocks on these at the factory, and what about the front struts as well?
I'm planning on replacing the shocks, struts, bushings, and ball joints while I have it torn apart but would like to keep it pretty stock with regards to ride hight and whatnot.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Chris
