  1. i was skippin through some of the post an someone had mentioned if you don't torque your knock sensor correctly it will still allow the engine to run like poop so what is the correct torque for that bad boy
  2. okay we are stumped i have an 87 automatic all the lights in the rear work but the reverse has someone else ever had this problem the bulbs work we jumped it at the end and they work when given juice we have checked fuses we just replaced the neutral safety switch we also looked at the back up light switch and it doesn't appear to get juice any ideas
  3. hey thanks for that site that will be a big help i am still wondering is there a wire that is hot when the key is in the on position that travels to the switch
  4. hey just wondering i got an 87 automatic inline 6 i have almost all of the bugs out of it there is one glaring problem sometimes the jeep will start in park or only start in neutral as well the back up lights do not work i believe it is the neutral safety switch unfortunately for this year that means a 250 Dollar part my question is to start is there when the key is in the on position is there a hot wire running to the neutral safety switch
  5. doesnt lubricate so maybe follow up with some lucas oil thickner next time save yourself some coin and just put in a half cup of kerosene a couple miles before you are gonna change oil
  6. i would go ahead and say fuel issue have you changed the filter lately
  7. so i have an 87 4.0l 6 cylinder with 190000 in it and i am changing it out for a 96 4.0l out of a cherokee is there any big conversions or problems that i may face in doing so
  8. ha i would have a hard tome doing that seeing that i am a Michigan fan ha
  9. thanks man great help in the yard tomorrow ha
  10. hey just wondering what interior parts work for say an 87 Comanche like i know other Comanches do but would other Cherokees fit and if so roughly what years i am looking for door panels, dash specifically under steering wheel
  11. i believe it was just color hard to tell though because i had it previously painted flat black from what i seen it held up great did do well with protection with the whole rubber pellets in it and not to mention i only did one coat i would say do so should only be about 150
  12. hey i painted my jeep grand cherokee a while back and i thought it was great i used the herculiner and rolled it on myself as far as fading not really it started out a shiny finish and eventually ended up flat back which was ok the only thing i slightly didnt like was that no matter what it always would rub off on ur fingers or clothing if you really rubbed up on it but overall if ur gonna keep it for a while and use it for what you say go for it
  13. hey thanks guys i put in a resistor because he was jumping those two wires and i put in a new coil module the part the coil sits in and most of the accessories now work and she started right up awesome thanks guys
  14. o done that ha its something that isnt allowing it to get spark any ideas as to why the accessories don't work at all
  15. ha yea they will be here soon ok i seen that resistor on a mj at the junk yard but i do not have one in my jeep what color wires should be going into this thing
  16. the resister i don't know where that is what does it look like i changed out the ignition switch the only change from before is now the fuel pump is priming which is wasnt before it still is not starting when i first did it, it wouldnt even turn over i know that there are these two medal rods that run the steering column one goes to the ignition switch what does the other do its seeded on a spring loaded whit plastic peice not to mention nothing works accessory wise either headlights, windshield wipers, turn signals it is turning over tho same as before
  17. and yes kyle loves mjs ha and come on hes a riot giving the bird to whoever he wants booyah
  18. ok i found the thing making that annoying noise and pulled it i am still wondering if the car would still be turning over if the egnition switch is bad like i said the fuel pump is getting no juice but it turns over slow but it turns over
  19. ok i will look to find it i guess it cluster of plug ins i am just wondering would it still be attempting to turn over if that switch is bad
  20. it could still be the ignition switch where is that bad boy located
  21. okay so my 87 inline 6 will turn over it seems to have a timing issue but thats the least of the worries to begin it is a wiring mess when i first stick the key in and turn to lock it makes and awful buzzing noise underneath the steering column when i turn it to on i am getting no juice to the fuel pump i think i had found the pump relay but not shore is this a ecu problem or what i replaced everything to do with spark
  22. yea i mean auto zone has blocks with valves and springs for 450 or everything for 1600
  23. the guy before me said it has been like this for a while so i am guessing the bearings are toast, i am guessing all that needs replaced
  24. okay so just looking for opinions and maybe the best place to finds these parts just bought an 87 inline 6 i plan on keeping it till i go bankrupt it has 190000 on the engine just looked at the oil its nice and milky the guy before me said he replaced the head gasket which seems to me hes not a mechanic okay so lets assume no crack in the head whats my best route to rebuilding, all new head or just get this one worked on where can i find a good engine/head and parts
  25. and this replacement will screw right into the block did u wrap with teflon
