Thank you both for your feedback. I’m working on an alternative repair of the cable to not have to replace the whole mechanism. There are a couple originals available on eBay but definitely more than I’d like to spend.

@Manche757 Did you end up finding the part? I am having the same issue. I found one used on EBay but also don’t want to replace a bad part with another and it’s definitely not cheap. I’d be curious to know if you made another brake release handle work or if you found an original. Thanks!
