  1. k so i guess this is what I'm going with http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/84-94-JE ... 3083wt_995
  2. will these work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PAIR-87- ... 300wt_1165 they are cheap and i like the look. it says wrangler, but comanche, cherokee wagoneer and wrangler all had the same mounts back then i think?? (i have an 88 comanche)
  3. k thanks.. based on the flow chart for TPS i need a new one. my tps has 2 connectors on it. a flat and a square. abc are on the flat one and d and e are on the square one.. does it matter? i should just use abc right?
  4. ok more detail.. it stalls when i hit the gas. sometimes it recovers (more of a hesitation i guess) i checked the TPS with a meter but I'm a bit confused about the test.. does the TCU have to be plugged in when setting the TPS? (mine is not) does the TPS normally go bad, or just need re tuning? is 60 bucks ok price for the TPS (autozone has them near me) anyone that has worked on the TPS please feel free to call me, just PM me if you don't mind a phone conversation and ill send my cell number...
  5. ok the 88 comanche 4.0 automatic efi is stalling i have the TCU unplugged because i had to move it. its has a bad TPS so i manually shifted it home. could having the TCU unplugged cause stalling durring acceleration (maybe because the TCC is not giving a signal? [read that somewhere i think]) do you think once i get the new TPS and plug the TCU back up this will stop? let me know if you need more info.
  6. Put this in new thread with more specific information .. admin can close this thread if needed
  7. ok retested with VM a+b= 5v (4.99) c+b= DEAD even with adjustment, the voltage does not change. is that the sign of a dead TPS?
  8. ok well here is an update **************UPDATE*************** Drilled out the down-pipe/manifold bolts and bolted on the new exhaust. tested the tps with a dmm RESULTS a+b = 5v c+b= .011v as you see the offset voltage is wrong so i need a new tps. does everyone agree with that assessment ?? Autozone has the sensor for 60 bucks
  9. 1988 JEEP COMANCHE PIONEER Straight 6 Cylinder Engine 4.0L/242 CID 2x4 5 speed automatic transmission EFI 170k Location: Essex maryland status: maintaining as daily driver
  10. also the "PCV" is not a pcv at all.. its just an elbow joint... is that bad? wrong? there es a hose connecting that elbow to the air filter box (looks like the original hose broke and this was installed in its place)
  11. ok here is a short video of the stalling issue.. i still think its just exhaust.. click pic for video
  12. Where can I get the fsm (factory service manual?)
  13. ok ill try and clean the TB tomorrow (today).. why did they have to use torques bolts ! ! !
  14. Manifold yes, cc yes, nothing from there back.. No back pressure.. Everything is pointing to tps.. I have the howto for checking it with volt meter, so ill do that once exhaust is on. The tcu is disconnected and it starts runs and manually shifts, but stalls a lot.
  15. i thought that was the PCV.. its getting oil thru it so i need a new one i guess... i believe that the AIC is next to (to the left) of where I'm pointing... anyway how about the diagnosis?
  16. ok here is the deal. I'm the proud new owner of a 1988 Jeep Comanche 2wd 4.0 with auto tanny EFI think would not go in to any gear but reverse and 1/2 disconnected the TCU under the glove box and now i can manually shift it stalls alot but that may just be because there is no exhaust on it at the moment. i'll deal with that later... Sounds to me like the tps based on my research here. i believe i have located the tps please verify pic here is the jeep also whats this? and should it go here?
