1990 Jeep mj column shift 2wd to 4wd swap
MattK replied to MattK's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah, I removed original rubber mat to repair floor. The new rubber flooring is pretty stubborn and doesn’t look perfect. I’m still convinced the column shift mj tcase shifter is different because there is a hole on the front of the console that clearly requires a screw but my shifter doesn’t have a mounting bracket in that spot. -
I just installed the transfer case shifter on the floor and ordered the small console for it but it doesn’t sit flat in the floor. Enough room to put my finger under. I took all 4wd components from a 1990 jeep xj pioneer. Is the tcase shifter mounting different for a column shift mj vs a floor shift? I will attach a pic

Do you mean the bulb or the whole light could be faulty?

I purchased the euramtec lights for my MJ. For some reason when I have them in the position to automatically come on when opening the door, they pop the fuse. I just manually turn them on now. Did I install incorrectly? Why won’t they work with all 3 connections hooked up?

Your line routing at the LSPV, and did you have to flare a new line for a different fitting size to make it work? -

@jdog did you delete the Lspv? If so, have you been happy with the results? -

@HOrnbrod just wondering how the LSPV delete worked out for you after all this time. I want to delete mine but I’m worried about having issues with the pressure being sent back at all times. I have all new lines and brakes just want to change my proportioning valve now but I have one from a Cherokee since that’s all you can buy. Also going with a 96 booster and MC -
@Eagle_SX4 I’m talking about replacing the springs and doing an AAL unless you don’t think that will work.
-
So do you recommend an AAL to my old springs?
-
Does anyone have or know where to get a complete body trim set for a long bed?
-
I guess my thought behind it is if I do some mild wheeling I don’t want to hang up on the bed with it being a long bed. But it will be driven weekly atleast and won’t be wheeled aggressively. Mainly just trips to the mountains for scenery and camping.
-
@ghetdjc320 I planned on replacing my leafs with the 1250 capacity and doing an AAL. Mine sag and the truck squats when I haul stuff. Going for a 4.5” lift I think unless you just recommend 3”
-
@Pete M currently have 3.55 gears, wondering if 32” tires are too much with that ratio
-
It will still be used as a truck. It won’t be a rock crawler or anything like that. I’m aware it won’t ride like a Cadillac, but I’m curious what kit provides the best on road handling and around town ride.
-
@Pete M I meant choosing between the lift kit options probably just go with the rough country with the add a leaf. Unless you have a recommendation on one that provides better ride quality. I’ll just do the factory leaf springs when I replace them.
-
@Pete M haven’t looked yet but my springs are tired and will get replaced. Thought about getting the stiffer springs instead of the 1250lbs capacity. What do you think?
-
@Pete M I will definitely put in new u joints. Do you recommend the add a leaf or leaf over axle?
-
So I could do a 4.5” lift with 32” tires on stock drive shafts? That’s the highest I wanted to lift
-
Hey guys, just wondering if an sye is necessary when doing a 3” lift on a long bed Comanche. And how big of lift can you get away with if you can go higher
-
Thanks @89 MJ, I didn’t think twice when I bought them. Everyone compliments them when they talk to me about the truck.

@Salvagedcircuit you’re correct on the tonneau cover for a 94 gmc Sonoma with the 7 1/2 foot bed. Fits perfectly and I thank you.
-
Yeah I know it gets more narrow at the end. Maybe I can have one made at an upholstery shop. I just figured it would be cheaper to buy one for a Sonoma if it’s within an inch or two in width and the right length
-
Hey guys, looking to do a roll up tonneau cover with the cross bars and rails instead of snaps. Does anyone have a link to one I can purchase. And would one from a long bed gmc Sonoma work? I listed pics below of the style I want
