  1. Great info. I will check it out. Dan
  2. When I tried to push it back from only the driver side I could feel it moving a little but the passenger side did not move at all. Did not try with a passenger pushing on that side at the same time. Would there be a latch on both sides activated from the single lever and rod on the driver side? Thanks.
  3. Hello, The bench seat in a 1989 MJ 2wd base model is stuck in the full forward position. Before I tear into it I am wondering if this is a common problem and is there anything particular I shuld look for. Dan
  4. Wondering what tire size is best to keep the original look on a 1989 Comanche 2wd base model 4.0L Thanks
  5. I took a good look at the 1989 Comanche this evening and have decided to pass on it. It is a very nice mostly rust free southern truck but I would not be able to put in the work needed to sort out all of the issues due to a knee replacment in the near future. If any one is interested the truck is listed in Classic AutoTrader and is located now in Worthington Ohio a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. 1989 Jeep Comanche 2WD for sale near Worthington, Ohio 43085 - Classics on Autotrader I am willing to pass on what I found when checking it out to anyone interested. The seller is aware that she has a strong asking price and willing to negotiate. She is the third owner and has her service receipts and those from the second owner. Brief summary: The bad: Tan paint was poorly applied over the original cardinal red. The tan paint is peeling off. It was painted by the first owner. It looks to me that a teenager may have done it!!!! A mild chemical stripper may take it off. Upper driver door hinge has started to seperate from the body. Weather stripping and other rubber items need replaced Oil leak around engine Load Magnaflow exhaust has to go!! There is no spare tire The seat will not slide back. The good: Starts and runs strong. It is a 4.0 I-6. The ad mentions a 4 cylinder but that is wrong. Auto Tranny shifts good. Fluid looks clean. Power Steering and power brakes are good All instruments, lights, and switches work Ther A/C blows cold but not super cold. Under side of body, bed, and frame are rust free and very clean. I was abe to take the rubber floor mad out. From underneath, I saw two small round rust spots starting at the front corners of both side of the floor Feel free to PM me for more info. This MJ needs a good home and kept stock. Dan
  6. Thanks Pete. Will see the Conamche in about an hour. I will report back in my orginal post rather than here on the Registry. Dan
  7. Thanks. Got it. Items like the engine, transmission, rear axle type and ratio, color, A/C, and Power steering would apply. The Comanche is to be a 2 wheel drive, I will be inspecting it this evening, but there is a code DHTP on the sheet meanin Shift-on-the -fly, P/Time, T/case that I assume does not apply if a 2WD. Dan
  8. Hi Jason, Thank you for posting the build sheet. As a new guy, I am wondering how to understand the info on the sheet. Are all of the items on the sheet included on the Comanche with that VIN? Dan
  9. Thank to everyone, I see that fiatskug87 added it to the registry. It would be great if I could see a built sheet. This is a great forum!!!!!!! Dan
  10. Hello, New member here and first post. I have run across a 1989 Comanche with a VIN of 1J7FT26L2KL414233. I have not seen the truck yet and have no experience with Jeeps, I want to get as much information as possible before going to see it. Where can I find a good VIN decoder? There are 79,500 miles and a 2 owner car with service records. Any and all assistance would be appreciated. Dan
