  1. Did this, doesnt seem to do much. No leaking between engine and tranny, we re bled last night, gravity bleed, had firm pedel again, drove around fine, shifted good. Parked at 9.00pm and by 7:00am no pedel. I don't think its the slave, but we can't figure out where we are getting air from, or why the slave isnt leaking fluid if its bad. don't want to do slave and new clutch just to find out we still can't get it to bleed right, and keep pedel.
  2. After replacing master cylinder, we gravity bled, and then pumped. Had firm pedel, next day pedel was gone. No leaks between engine and tranny. Today we have been bleeding and getting some air. We pump slowly, close bleeder, let off clutch, repeat. can't seem to get clutch and its still pushing out air. Line was replaced with cylinder. Is this a long proccess for bleeding, or is the clutch bad, maybe a shift finger/fork?.
  3. Very nice! Thanks my friend!
  4. ok, so original reason i made this account was to figure out some electrical issues i was having, (just keep this in mind). last night we (a good mechanic friend who is helping me get through this) were working on replacing the cylinder that was leaking on the fuse block. once getting into the project it was clear to see the PO had worked on it before. After the old cylinder was removed, we noticed that one of the stationary bolts in the firewall was bent slightly, and the top bolt had come out, and was replaced with a regular bolt (not metric) that was obviously not stationary in the firewall (just a bolt pushed through the hole) while pondering what to do here, he started wiping down some wires coming out of the fuse block, cleaning the area up a little, and then the magic started. He was wiping a red wire off and it literally fell out of the fuse block, (see pics) also note that this red wire was spliced with a butt connector with exposed wire. Then removed fuse panel to see that the PO had put a metal tip on the end of the red wire to keep it in place (but it looks like it melted through, or fuse panel was drilled out?) also note the black grease caked inside fuse panel. So now it seems like a new fuse panel is needed. Is there a site that sells this? another question, is the red wire that was spliced supposed to have an inline fuse? seems like it should....guessing thats the reason the red wire may have melted back through if the panel wasnt drilled out.The orange wire coming out of harness was done the same way, but didnt melt through, but its not done right. how do we go about fixing this mess? I appreciate all the help in the biggest way, thanks again.
  5. Checked above fuse panel under clutch, found a small drip. Have i found the culprit...lol
  6. Update* So today before leaving, i pumped brakes 40 times or so, shifting was better, but got harder after a few miles( in town, lights and stop signs) i noticed that if i pumped the clutch while sitting at red light shifting became easier. Got home, checked a
  7. So it worked well for a day, started acting up again, beginning to think i may need a new slave cylinder? I know i have more flushing to do, still has a blackish color. Will try pumping it up more as mentioned in the mean time.
  8. Ok, so i sucked the old fluid out of the master cylinder, it was definitely in need of changing, black color. After bleeding it several times and refilling slave with fresh fluid the color started getting slightly better, but still needs more work. Major difference in shifting noticed right away. Shifting much better, have not had any problems getting it into gear, but its not perfect yet, much better, so I'm assuming when i finish flushing it and get the black color out it should be back to normal. I was thinking throw out bearing, glad you guys pointed out the simple place to start. Saved me time and money. Will update when i finish the flush out.
  9. Clutch fluid is full but color is kind of dark. Havent got down to check tranny fluid yet, but now its on the list.
  10. Have a manual 87 that has been getting harder to put in any gear, i know i have a bad tranny mount. When i back up it gives that bucking feel, not horrible, but its an issue on the list....my question, could that be part of the reason for the hard shifting? It doesnt always do it, but becoming more frequent. Ive also noticed that it seems like i need more clutch, like when i go down a hill with clutch fully pressed, i can still feel the tranny slowing the vehicle down as if the clutch is being let out. Bad clutch.... or would a bad tranny mount be triggering these issues?

Curious to see what model mj i have, i want to put original graphics on it, but need to make sure I'm looking at the right ones for my mj. The interior has been swapped out for bucket seats, so original options have been changed
  14. Just bought a 87 Jeep comanche, it has the 4.0, 4x4. when i drove it home i noticed that the speedometer didnt work, but the gas gauge did, and the stereo did not. I also noticed that the front blinker works, but not the rear blinker, or brake lights(rear lights work though) after parking overnight i got in the next day to realize that the front blinkers were now not working. replaced the flasher relay, and a fuze to stereo. got blinkers and stereo working, but gas gauge stopped working. Today i went to go out, and noticed that the gas gauge is working, but now the stereo is not. going to replace brake light bulbs today to see if thats the issue with the brake lights, my question, does this sound like a bad ground? is there a good place to start looking around?
