  1. Sorry Pete. I just posted here to show the truck from start to eventual finish (that's how I've seen project threads go usually), progress pics and all...... Looks like the thread got a little more into tech than expected.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Glad to be here. Yeah this being my second Jeep in 6 months, and I'm not getting rid of the Wartoad, I'd say I got the bug. Gonna be nice to have a grocery getter and a hauler. Already learning from some of the guys the quirks that separate the XJ from the MJ............ That's alright though. Looks like there's a good wealth of knowledge. Hope to add to it and help some guys out.
  3. Yeah I'll call over there tomorrow. It doesn't specify for MJs. Unless I'm missing it. Only options are for MJ and Metric Ton that I can see.
  4. Well it looks like I'll be in touch with Hell Creek tomorrow. Does anyone know if the MJ add a leaf gives 2 or 3 inches of lift??
  5. Already found it- looking at the add a leaf. I'll be in touch with him. Thanks for the heads up and all the info.
  6. Cool thanks for the info. Are there any JY spring packs that guys use for 3 inches of lift on the MJs?
  7. I am using generic chevy/dodge/ford shackles from o'reilly's. These are the same shackles I used on my XJ. So what you're saying is I will get no lift from these?
  8. Shoot- you're right. I just went and looked. Well the three inch up front and two out back shoot make it run level, since pick-ups are usually a little higher in the back for payload, correct?
  9. I ordered Edelbrock headers for $174 from their online store. Marked down from $700+. You 2.8L guys might wanna check it out..... 31 x 10.50 Maxxis Buckshots on black d-windows. The tires got 50 miles on them- they came from my XJ. 3 inch RE coils, 2 inch shackle and 1 inch block rear, extended brake lines, new brakes in the front, rear fender cut and fold, gutted interior, flat tan paint, swap in the dana 44 from an 87. That's short term before I deploy.
  10. I only have 31's right now, but when I trimmed less on my XJ, I chewed up my tires on the front fenders from flexing. may go with bigger rubber later, but want to try and keep a low COG. I like that look better meself.
  11. Well after blowing up the motor on the Wartoad (1995 HO XJ), I needed another ride as the Toad was my daily driver. My budget was tight and I looked at a few XJs that didn't quite make the cut. I found this though: 1986 Comanche with a running 2.8L V6. I payed $900. The guy said it had a new clutch (feels good), clutch master cylinder and rear brakes. It needs new front brakes, a new exhaust manifold stud, and I just bought edelbrock headers for it. I'm in the process of a tune-up, building new batt cables for the Optima YT, and installing a 3 inch lift. I have a D44 rear that I planned on putting into the XJ, but now it will get a new home........ BTW, where are the spots that the water comes into the cab from??????

Haha. Nope- heading to Turkey Bay ORV in the rain with no doors on at 65 mph. Some grinding and the sound of crunching/breaking glass (oddly enough), then it almost sounded like pocket change hitting the highway as I pulled over. Very hateful sound. My truck was becoming an icon among the guys in my unit. I had a lot of work into it to get it running and maintained right. I had just finished swapping in a JY transmission the day before. The PO didn't do much in the way of fluid changing. She'll get the proper treatment when I get home though. I'm, gonna do the MJ up right too. LOTSA issues there.

That is the XJ in question..... And here is the damage that led to the demise of the Wartoad and my purchase of the Killpig: I forgot to get a pic of the portion of engine block that went when it blew........... She will get an engine swap when I return from Afghanistan.

There's a nice bit of rust and dents on the passenger side. Looks like someone hit a mailbox a while ago. The rust spots look like a topographic map. It has plenty of bugs and kinks I am working out, but that's part of the fun.

Hey everyone. New here. Just bought my first MJ the other day after I blew the motor on my 95 XJ. The MJ is a 1987 longbed with the 2.8L V6. Ugh. I needed a daily driver and something to play with for the next month before I deploy. Here's a pic of how the "Killpig" looked when I bought her. Look for the rest in the tech section. Have fun and be safe!!
