Air stopped blowing suddenly
WanderingAccountant replied to WanderingAccountant's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So I am absolutely confused on this issue. I have ordered a new blower control switch (for behind the dash panel) and a new connector (in case of mine being melted) on the advice of many of you above. I have read up on adding relays around the connection at the resistor to assist in managing electric flow in the future, and had ordered parts to begin that modification. I went to work on replacing said parts above, tested the air one final time before opening up the dash, and it works! What is happening that would cause unpredictable electric current to components some days, and no current on other days. There appears to be no correlation between temperature as I am in south FL.... -

So, as-is I should be able to turn the key and have air on low? Please forgive me, when I said relay I meant resistor. I replaced the small rectangle piece under the passenger dash with the coiled metal design. -

I didn’t think the melted parts were affecting the metal connectors. I will re-inspect in the morning and report back. -

I can try this tomorrow, can you elaborate on what to do exactly? I am very new to electrical issues in vehicles and am having trouble with some of your terms. Thank you in advance! -

I replaced the resistor when I replaced the blower motor. Everything seems to be good down there. -
Air stopped blowing suddenly

Just checking in with everyone: Some random tinkering under the hood and my blower motor started working again. I assumed we had a loose electrical connection. Fan speed switch is functional, and hose is connected to the top of the engine. Added the additional ground for the blower motor per crusier54's direction. I assumed all was well. Blower motor cut off while driving and no amount of jiggling the connection will make it respond. Any new ideas? Fuses are unbroken. It appears to be a bad electrical somewhere... -

I started to work through your tip #1 to refresh the grounds and saw this! I am looking to make this adjustment this weekend; do you have advice on the wire gauge eyelet to get? This is the item I was going to order: https://www.mcmaster.com/electrical-connectors/ring-terminals/insulated-high-temperature-ring-terminals/ Additionally, I lost the grounding screw on the driver front end inner that you refer to in tip #1 and borrowed one from another location to fill the void. Do you happen to know the screw size? I was going to guess and order an M6 x 1 mm Thread, 20 mm Long but wanted to make sure. THANK YOU in advance :) -

Air stopped blowing suddenly

Okay friends, air has functioned properly for the day, and all of a sudden quit working just as before. Brand new blower motor and brand new relay. Checked fuses and both are intact. There must be a short or something wrong with the electrical. What now?? -

Am I reading this correct that it should be left the way it is? I could not locate a place to plug in. Thanks everyone for the feedback! -

Okay guys, thanks for the feedback! I changed the blower motor and the relay and seem to have solved the problem! Found a vacuum hose that was not connected, however. Anyone know where this goes? -

My air conditioning unit worked well and blew cold air, and suddenly shut off in the middle of driving. No setting works, and the fuses in the box and under the hood all appear unbroken. Any ideas? -
Brake lights stuck on
WanderingAccountant replied to WanderingAccountant's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
@Eagle nailed it! The ground was bad! Found a local shop in TPA called Red Scorpion Fabworks that fixed it for me for $50 out the door. Thank you all for your time and feedback! -

@eaglescout526 unfortunately the shop is two hours away and they don’t believe the issue is related. I am going to take it local (Tampa) to try and get it resolved. It’s a shop my father in-law uses and I’m not sure if the name, but it’s in Ft Myers. -
Brake lights stuck on
WanderingAccountant replied to WanderingAccountant's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
@eaglescout526 I actually recently replaced the bulbs, and found that out the hard way! Ha! No this was not happening before it went into the shop, and is now. I’ll call them tomorrow, just curious if it was something I could do myself. -
Hi all! I just had my IAC valve replaced and just noticed my brake lights are stuck lit up (as if actively braking) when my headlights are engaged. The brake lights work normal when engaged when headlights are off. Does anyone know why this might be? I plan to call the shop to let them know, but I’m curious if it’s a coincidence and I need to order a part. Thanks in advance!!

@cruiser54 so I keep getting my TPS output reading on the nose accurate, but after 3-4 days of driving, the Comanche will either start in crazy high idle (the reason I started the journey of adjustment to begin with) or like yesterday, will struggle to start and requires pumping the gas to ignite. I am having to re-adjust every few days; this cannot be right! I should mention that this is a new TPS that I just installed. Any ideas how to make the sensor stop moving around?
-
Thanks to everyone, and to @cruiser54 for the detailed write up! I was able to adjust my TPS as directed, and it made a huge difference, but I noticed that my output reading jumps from the .828 that I set before startup to .843 after I cut the ignition. Subsequent start ups appear smooth and sound fine, but I am worried I did not tighten my TPS enough and it is turning out of position with each start up. Is this normal?

@eaglescout526 very nice! I downloaded and will keep for reference. thanks again!

@JMO413 this is incredible, thank you!! @eaglescout526 thank you for that, I was searching the listing for long v. short and didn't understand that it was denoted by the 61/62. I edited my post above to reflect the correction!
