no the frame isnt rusted out but my dad went cut happy on it and cut a lot of it up and i removed the rocker panels from it. the floors were mint. the only problem was the overheating issue.
-
well did a lot this week and took about the donor completely and it'll be going to the scrap yard saturday. then i'll start to take apart the comanche. :wrench: will post pics up soon of the cherokee (scrap pile) on the way to the scrap yard.

i got the xj running fine but then the mj started acting up and i needed to make a choice keep the xj or keep the mj. that was an easy choice. GUT THE XJ! no more front clip or doors took out the engine bay wiring harness and next the drivetrain took out as much of the interior as i could to update the comanche

bought a nice 99 xj from a friend a couple months back. he said there was an overheating problem with the truck. i ran it for a bit to hear the motor and to see what was wrong. upon further inspection i noticed that he just recently replaced the radiator hose and didnt install the clamp right so it leaked bad. so i got it to run fine. the kicker was i only spent 400$ on the thing.

Ok so I got the truck on the road and took it out and broke the transfer case. It won't stay in 4wd. But I did pick up a new one for free. I am looking to piece together a lift kit for the truck tho. Does anyone have any suggestions on what parts I should pick up from where?
-
havent updated this post in awhile but ill be sure to put up some pics later. i was jus wondering if anyone has any info on some 6.5" lift kits. ive been looking at both rough country and OME kits. jus wondering what people think bout these. if anyone knows how or were i can get a cheap lift let me kno. id like 6+ and to run 35s.

yea i thought the same thing but i did research and what i found was that once you unscrew the door it never closes the same again and it can leak and what not. but i read on another forum that someone did it the same way and it worked out fine.

ive recently started to work on the body work of the bed and the tailgate handle broke so now i need a new one. anyone selling one or kno where i can buy one? none of the salvage yards in the area have comanches. can i use one from another truck? any info you have can help.
-

for a little advice. anyone who wants to take there doors off like i did use an air chisel. i got the passenger door off in less then a hour. now i jus gotta fix the doors and weld in new body panels for the body to be done. then put in a new clutch for the transmission to be set. i also picked up a set of 33x12.5r15 for $100. the rims however don't fit so ill need another set or install them on the stock ones?
-
i agree my brother did the same thing with grey and his grand am. how did you apply it? jus like a normal spray or up and down like painting your house?
-
this is what i did today. took a little longer then hoped but the drivers door is off. hopefully tomorrow the passenger will come off a lot faster. but before you all say well it shouldnt have taken that long well i didnt unscrew the door. i cut the bottom half of the hinge off and took a metal punch to it until it popped off. it was hard seeing as i waited for the lip on the piece of the door to bend. but then the pin snapped and the bottom half of the hinge came off. now i have removable doors. i do have another set of doors with power locks and windows I'm gonna use as full doors and gonna cut the original doors up into half doors. pics up tomorrow of progress on the passenger side.

Cutting fenders up to make them fit? yea a lil bit. i plan on a bigger lift tho also. speakin of that does anyone kno how much lift ill get by flipping the rear leaf spring on the axel? or were to get cheap 35" tires. if i can get 4 for less then $1999 then i need to go there.
-
well i got a 2.5" lift and am planning on goin to 35" tires and i was told id get a good deal on the rims that's why i wanted them. ill still see if i can get them in a smaller size because i like them. if not ill probably look at cragar for some rims.
-
well the smallest rim it comes in is 18"
-
i like the overall bumper. how did you make the ends? those came out really good. looks factory.
-
thanx i was asking. I'm in favor of option 2 also. i justed wanted someone elses opinion also.
-
its raining today so can't really do much to the truck. but i did make some use of my day. i went out and bought a moonroof for just 5$ at a local auction i also went down to Zeke's Custom Wheels and picked out two sets of rims and tires i want. now its just to pick which one to buy. Option 1 Option 2
-
I'm thinking about leaving it black. but if i was gonna paint it another color it would be like a burnt orange.
-
got bored and started on the truck. it took almost no time at all to take apart. a lot easier then my ol' cherokee. driver's side of the truck. interior is out of the truck. took no time at all. i was wondering why the driver's seat would tip when you leaned on it. not good... not good... cleaned up the passanger side a bit. I'm goin out to buy some paint on liner and rustoleum to keep this from rusting again.

the underneath of the bed is solid. the cab however is a different story. there are two big rot holes. and you are lucky nothing but salt up here to wreck your truck.
